A PC Phone basically refers to the PC and phone connection that allows calls to be made over the Internet or what are properly termed as Voice over Internet Protocol calls.  Several years back, technology did not have the capability to make calls over the Internet possible since phones use an analog language while Internet/PCs use a digital language.  Today, advances in technology such as analog telephone adapters make analog to digital conversion possible, thus, the concept of the PC phone.

With the rate that PC phone users are increasing, the said medium of communication is predicted to replace traditional phone calling.  PC to PC calls are almost free beyond broadband Internet and electric consumption costs while PC to phone calls can be cheaper to the traditional long distance call cost.

A PC phone is what makes an internet user capable of calling analog format landline and mobile phones through the Internet.  An individual can either be using a phone adaptor or Internet-ready phones which already have built-in converters ready to be connected to an Internet router.

Different payment schemes are available for PC to phone calls; there are per minute rates and there are flat monthly rates which can vary also vary according to accredited locations or countries.  There can be packages that include within US or Canada calls only and there can be packages that include Europe and Asia.

A PC phone makes it possible for an individual to call landlines and mobile phones over the Internet.  Equipped with an analog to digital converter, such phones are predicted to replace traditional phones in the future.  Although PC to phone calls are paid-for services, costs can be minimal compared to per minute long distance calling coursed through landlines and mobile phones.
